A Kérastase scalp serum is worth comparing by its exact product name, your scalp concern and the evidence behind that formula. Genesis Sérum Anti-Chute Fortifiant targets weakened hair prone to falling; Nutritive Nutri-Supplement targets a dry scalp; Spécifique Sérum Potentialiste focuses on scalp balance; Cure Densifique is a separate density program. Their ingredients, doses and claims are different.
If you want a simpler cosmetic scalp-care step, the ginger products below are options to compare by texture and application. They are not demonstrated equivalents to Kérastase treatments. “Better” means a better fit for your routine, not proven superior hair growth.
About this guide: Updated September 30, 2026 using Kérastase’s global product pages and current GinGrowth listings. Regional names, availability and labels may differ. GinGrowth sells the EELHOE products shown below; we are not Kérastase. This is a source-based comparison, not a hands-on trial or independent clinical test.
What is Kérastase scalp serum? Identify the formula first
The words “scalp serum” describe a category, not a single recipe. A product aimed at dryness should not inherit another serum’s hair-fall study. Likewise, a serum for the scalp is not automatically interchangeable with a finishing serum for split ends. Check the full name on the bottle before using a review to make a purchase.
| Exact product | Main comparison task | What to check first |
|---|---|---|
| Genesis Sérum Anti-Chute Fortifiant | Weakened hair prone to falling; a defined daily serum program. | Its serum claim versus the separate full-system breakage claim. |
| Spécifique Sérum Potentialiste | Scalp balance, freshness and cosmetic comfort. | The formula, including alcohol and fragrance, and its daily directions. |
| Nutritive Nutri-Supplement Scalp Serum | Dry-scalp hydration. | Moisturizing ingredients and a milky fluid texture; not an oil-free claim. |
| Cure Densifique | The brand’s density-focused vial program. | A different active, evidence summary and three-month usage commitment. |
These are four distinct options from the global catalogue, not a complete list of every regional Kérastase treatment. Follow the product sold in your market. A similar bottle, a shared collection name or a retailer’s shortened title does not establish identical ingredients.
For the dry-scalp product itself, the Nutritive Nutri-Supplement formula review separates its moisture claims from hair-length products in the same range.
Who should use a Kérastase scalp serum?
Begin with the problem you can describe. If your lengths snap during brushing, examine conditioning, heat and handling as well as the Genesis routine. If your scalp feels dry while your lengths are otherwise manageable, a scalp moisturizer is a more focused comparison. If your part is widening or shedding has changed noticeably, do not assume that adding a cosmetic serum answers the cause.
Fine hair and thinning hair are also different: fine describes strand diameter; thinning describes a change in density. Someone can have both. A fluid product may be easier to place without coating fine lengths, but the word “lightweight” does not prove treatment of hair loss. For an aging scalp, choose according to current dryness, sensitivity and hair changes rather than assuming that a particular age requires one collection.
The American Academy of Dermatology’s hair-loss guidance explains why identifying the cause comes first. Sudden, patchy or persistent loss deserves assessment; neither this guide nor a product comparison can diagnose it.
Key ingredients in Kérastase scalp serums: read by SKU
Genesis: The global Sérum Anti-Chute Fortifiant page lists diaminopyrimidine oxide, marketed as Aminexil, alongside caffeine and ginger root extract. Alcohol denat. and fragrance are also listed. Although the broader Genesis collection discusses edelweiss, that is not a reason to add edelweiss to this serum’s ingredient list. Aminexil should not be presented as interchangeable with the hair-loss medicine minoxidil.
Potentialiste: Its listed ingredients include bifida ferment lysate and ascorbyl glucoside, a vitamin C derivative. The brand describes microbiome and protective-barrier benefits. Those descriptions do not establish treatment of every itchy scalp or a diagnosis of a microbiome disorder. Its formula also lists alcohol denat. and fragrance, which matter if you avoid those ingredients.
Nutri-Supplement: Glycerin, panthenol and niacinamide appear in the full list, along with mineral oil, amodimethicone and fragrance. A “non-greasy” texture claim is therefore not the same as “oil-free” or “silicone-free.” Choose it for its stated dry-scalp role, while checking ingredients against your own preferences.
Cure Densifique: The brand highlights Stemoxydine, and the INCI includes diethyllutidinate. This is a vial-based program, not the same formula as Genesis. Names such as ceramides, peptides and botanical extracts should not be combined into an imaginary ingredient list that supposedly applies to every Kérastase serum.
How strong are the results claims?
| Official claim | Manufacturer’s stated basis | What this does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Genesis: reduced rate of hair fall after 6 weeks | Clinical test on 99 people with daily application for 6 weeks. | A universal regrowth result or equivalence to medication. |
| Genesis: 84% less hair fall due to breakage | Instrumental test after one application of Bain Nutri-Fortifiant + Masque + Serum. | An 84% reduction caused by the serum used alone. |
| Nutri-Supplement: +23% scalp moisture | Clinical instrumental test immediately after application. | More follicles or a long-term density increase. |
| Cure Densifique: more than 1,000 new hairs revealed | Brand-reported clinical test: 101 subjects versus placebo; daily use for 3 months. | A promised number for an individual or independent verification in this guide. |
| Cure Densifique: perceived thickness and strength | Separate self-evaluation by 122 users over 30 days. | The same measurement as the three-month clinical claim. |
The official pages provide manufacturer summaries rather than a full independent assessment here. Read the test population, product combination and measured outcome together. Scalp hydration, reduced breakage, perceived thickness and hair counts are different endpoints. None provides a head-to-head comparison with the GinGrowth products in this article.
For the Genesis-specific question, the Genesis Anti-Chute study and formula review distinguishes the serum’s reported study from a multi-product breakage result.
COMPARE BY ROUTINE
Which GinGrowth option fits your scalp-care step?
If you already want ordinary leave-in cosmetic care, compare these two water-based formats. If you specifically want the studied Kérastase formula, its exact ingredients or its prescribed program, use that product’s official information to decide.
40ml ginger hair tonic
For a scalp-and-root routine with a dropper. The listing highlights ginger extract, glycerin, sodium PCA and panthenol, and directs a gentle 2–3 minute massage before leaving it on.

For targeted placement when you prefer a fluid essence. The water-based formula includes ginger root oil, glycerin and Polygonum multiflorum extract; it is not an oil-free formula.

Kérastase scalp serum vs. ginger-based hair serums
A useful comparison is not “science versus nature”: Genesis itself contains ginger root extract, and the GinGrowth options are formulated blends. The practical questions are which ingredients are documented, where the product goes, what texture you want and whether evidence exists for the outcome you expect.
The 40ml tonic emphasizes a water-based scalp application with moisture-binding ingredient highlights. The 30ml essence offers a smaller dropper format and a different ingredient blend. Neither listing provides a controlled clinical study demonstrating Genesis-like hair-fall results, a Densifique-like hair count or greater scalp hydration than Nutri-Supplement.
Price comparisons also need the same basis. Check the current local price, bottle volume, recommended dose and delivery cost. A larger bottle is not automatically cheaper per day, and “one pipette” is not a standardized volume across brands. We have not calculated cost per use because the reviewed GinGrowth guides do not specify a measured daily volume.
How to use a scalp serum without mixing up directions
The official global directions below are specific to each Kérastase product. Use your actual package if regional instructions differ. A “dose” in the first two rows means a pipette filled to that product’s mark, not a single drop.
| Product | Amount and starting condition | Schedule and finish |
|---|---|---|
| Genesis Sérum Anti-Chute Fortifiant | 4 doses on dry or towel-dried scalp; each dose is one pipette to the mark. | Once daily for 6 weeks; do not rinse. |
| Sérum Potentialiste | 3 doses on dry or towel-dried scalp; each dose is one pipette to the mark. | Once daily for 3 weeks; do not rinse. |
| Nutri-Supplement Scalp Serum | 2–4 doses according to hair thickness, on dry or damp scalp; massage to distribute. | As often as needed; the directions say blow-dry and do not rinse. |
| Cure Densifique | 1 vial daily on dry or towel-dried hair; use its comb applicator on the scalp and massage as instructed. | Morning or evening for 3 months; follow the supplied vial guide. |
For the GinGrowth 40ml tonic, place a small amount on the scalp and roots, massage gently for 2–3 minutes and leave on as directed. For the 30ml essence, the current guide says to wash and dry the hair, apply to the scalp, massage and leave in. Do not copy the Kérastase pipette count into either product’s routine.
Part the hair to reach the intended area and keep the applicator clean. Use fingertips rather than scratching with nails. Adding more product to feel stronger tingling is not a useful dose strategy. Stop using a product if irritation develops; persistent discomfort should not be dismissed as evidence that a serum is working.
When to choose a ginger-based serum instead
Consider one when your goal is a manageable cosmetic scalp-care step and the actual format, ingredient highlights and current price fit your preferences. The 40ml ginger hair tonic product details let you check the dropper, water-based texture and directions before deciding. Choose the 30ml essence if that formula and smaller format suit you better.
Do not choose either solely because “ginger” sounds gentler, more natural or proven to grow hair. Botanical ingredients can still be unsuitable for an individual. Nor does traditional use substitute for a finished-product study. If your main concern is greasy roots, first consider your cleansing routine and amount of product; our oily-scalp serum guide discusses that separate decision.

Common mistakes when using scalp serums
- Buying by collection alone. A Genesis shampoo, mask and scalp serum have different roles and directions.
- Turning a study period into a promise. Six weeks or three months describes the cited use period, not your guaranteed result.
- Calling every fluid serum oil-free. Read the ingredient list; feel and composition are separate questions.
- Layering several new scalp products at once. This makes it harder to identify what changes comfort or residue.
- Applying scalp directions to a hair-length product. A finishing serum or rinse-out conditioner needs its own instructions.
What to look for before paying
Save the exact product name and read its complete label where available. Check application site, rinse status, dose, frequency and any known ingredients you avoid. A long ingredient list is not inherently poor, and recognizable plant names are not a safety rating. Ingredient highlights alone should not be presented as a full formulation.
Then decide what you will judge: ease of application, residue, scalp comfort or a specific outcome supported by that product’s evidence. Evaluate feel under a consistent wash-and-styling routine. If you photograph your part, use similar lighting and positioning; photographs by themselves do not prove that a cosmetic caused new growth.
Frequently asked questions
Is Kérastase scalp serum worth the price?
It may be if the exact formula, usage program and supporting claims fit your goal. It is less useful to pay for an anti-hair-fall program when you mainly need a dry-scalp moisturizer. Compare local prices and the evidence for the outcome you actually want.
Can I use a Kérastase scalp serum every day?
Genesis and Potentialiste have daily directions on the reviewed global pages, with different doses and use periods. Nutri-Supplement says as often as needed. There is no one daily schedule for every product carrying the serum name.
Which option is suitable for aging or fine hair?
Choose by dryness, strand fragility, desired texture and changes in density. Age does not identify a formula, and a light finish does not prove regrowth. New or persistent thinning warrants advice about its cause.
Will scalp serum make hair greasy?
That depends on the complete formula, amount and your hair. Apply to the intended area and evaluate residue. Neither water-based texture nor a dropper guarantees that every amount will feel weightless on every scalp.
Can I use it with minoxidil or another treatment?
Ask the clinician or pharmacist managing that treatment about compatibility and timing. These cosmetic products should not replace prescribed care, and a generic layering schedule cannot account for all formulas or scalp conditions.
How long does one bottle last?
Use that bottle’s dose instructions and actual consumption. There is no reliable universal four-to-six-week estimate across a 30ml essence, a 90ml serum and a course of 6ml vials.
Choose the formula that matches the job
For a Kérastase purchase, compare the named SKU and its specific evidence. For a simpler cosmetic routine, compare the GinGrowth formats without assuming clinical equivalence. The most useful choice is one whose application, ingredients and intended outcome you understand before it reaches your shelf.
